1998 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

I never thought I'd ever own a Chevy but it's like they say; when the devil gets old he gets religious. Anyway,

couldn't take it anymore, I just had to have a ragtop again. Of course the first choice should have been a Mopar

and I had been looking at Chrysler (Dodge) Stratus/Sebring but a transverse mounted V6 and frontwheel drive

didn't really appeal to me. I wanted the "real stuff" and on a Car Sales website I found this 98 Chevy Camaro

Convertible with only 26300 km (16350 miles) on the meter. The current owner was willing to discuss the price

so I got it for a fair price on June 01, 2006. It's "only" a 3.8L V6. The ultimate would off course have been the

350 cu in V8 but I can live with the V6 and it's 190 hp and automatic transmission. It was sold as new in Sweden

so it has all the required modifications from the beginning and it has been proffesionally serviced. It also makes

the low mileage a little more trustworthy. At a recent long trip I measued the gasmileage to about 8L/100km

(29.5 miles/gallon) which I find better than expected.

During winter 06/07 I purchased some styling stuff which improved appearance quite a lot. These were an

aluminum grille, smoked Altezza rear lights, smaller US-style license plates and a dual cat-back performance

exhaust system by Magnaflow, noisy and expensive but good looking

After 8 years it had to be a choice between this one and the Dodge so on June17, 2014 it got sold after it had been on the market for about 1.5 month. The buyer seemed serious so I'm convinced it came to a new good home.
